Repurposed Home Decor

With the hubs being a student, I have had to find ways to decorate our home on a seriously small budget. I have developed an interest in taking random objects and finding a way to decorate with them. It's a fun challenge! Here's some repurposed items I have turned into home decor.

These candle holders were made from recycled Porch Posts that I found at a Habitat for Humanity recycle center. They are perfectly distressed and worn and work perfectly as candle holders. All I had to do was cut the posts down to size.
I got this window at an antique shop for $3.15 because one of the panes had been broke. So I finished breaking out the rest of the glass and hung a wreath on it.

When we moved into our house a little over 2 years ago, there were doors on both entrances into our Dining Room. We wanted a more open feel so we took them down. We had previously been in an apartment so we needed furniture. So the infamous corner shelf was born. (I get lots of questions and comments from visitors about this piece.) We cut one door in half, screwed in brackets to hold it at 90 degrees, and then cut shelves to fit and secured those with brackets also. I painted it off white and did a brown wash over it to give it an old look. Good way to fill those empty corners, huh?

Just last week, the hubs, lil stinker, and I ventured over to one of my fav thrift stores, the "Love of Jesus", and picked up this beauty for $7. Little pricey, maybe, but I think it has great potential! And I loved the design of it with the curved arm rests. Hopefully it turns out to be a cute chair for my lil stinker.

This is what I just finished eating. mmmm. Made from scratch goodness. mmmm. Sorry, I don't bake a lot, so when I do, I have to document it. :)
