Burlap is so itchy, stinky, and messy fun to use! The texture is to die for. But seriously, does it have to be so messy?! Am I the only one that has my vacuum armed and ready while I'm working with burlap? Anyways, I really do love burlap. I suppose it's more of a love/hate relationship though. And you know, tan burlap is fabulous and all, but I have enough tan around my house. I want me some color!! So I've been using the "other" burlap colors. As in brown, white, and red. I made my Give Thanks pillow using the leftover brown burlap from my crib spring makeover. For a quick pillow tutorial, check out La T Da.
And this Be Merry pillow is made from the leftovers of another freakin awesome burlap project that I'll be unveiling very soon.... sorry for the suspense, but I not quite done. :)
And in the middle of making these pillows awesome pillows, I ran out of batting. So one of them is stuffed with these:
Kind of embarrassing, but I didn't want to run to the store just to buy more batting when we have a bajillion of these laying around. Can you guess which pillow is stuffed with grocery sacks?
And just so you know, I think the grocery sacks did a better job of stuffing....
I LOVE your "be merry" pillow! I'll have to try the white burlap with red paint - too cute!!
ReplyDeleteI so want to do a burlap project of some kind. Its all over blog land. Very cute pillows, I would so deal with the mess to have cute pillows. P.S. I see a glimps of a iron pole with pics hanging from it. I just did something like that and blogged about it a week ago. Come visit me sometime. Larsenloves.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the burlap projects too! I found several yards of tan and cream burlap at a thrift store for pennies (don't people know that burlap is hot right now!) I'm looking to make some pillows for my guest bedroom. Thanks for the inspiration.

LOVE it! It looks so great and super easy too (my kind of project)! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI had to put my burlap pillow away because it was still shedding so much. I love the words on yours. I'm dying to make some word pillows. I bought some pretty textured linen that I'll have to try... or maybe I'll try burlap again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining up for our DIY party. Can't wait to see what you come up with. =)
Those are so Cute! P.S. I have the some rod hanging in my house. Got to love rod works!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I MUST make a burlap something. Just trying to find the time. This is so cute! :) I'm glad you had the chance to link! I was actually going to add it for you if you couldn't! ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. I hope your computer gets well soon!

Looove your pillows!!! I bought some pale lime green and some red burlap last week...going to make some pillows and a Christmas tree skirt. I think it's great that you used the plastic bags:) Hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

I love recycling and would never have thought to use my grocery bags for the purpose of stuffing pillows! Well done. Great post and your blog is looking fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the pillows. I may just have to steal this idea for my sister in law; she would love them!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas - love the finished projects! I really want that Give Thanks Pillow...hmmm...I wonder if I have enough time for another fall projcet before Thanksgiving! =) Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda...
ReplyDeleteOooh...I do love your pretty burlap pillows...they're awesome, my friend! Okay...I must admit, I didn't even know that burlap came in any other color than brown! Hehe! I love the white with the red lettering...gorgeous!!! It's been some time since I've done anything with burlap but I do remember how messy it can be...eeekks! But certainly worth all the extra clean-up effort if the projects come out as great as these pretty pillows!
Thank you for sharing your pretties with us today!
Warmest wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
Cute, cute project! I read somewhere (but never tried it so don't know it is true or not) but they suggested spraying the burlap lightly with a mister bottle of water to help control the mess. Your pillows are really clever and neat!
ReplyDeleteLove these and ESPECIALLY the improv stuffing!
ReplyDeleteGreen and recycle-kind! love it.
love you--Kelee STOP BY!
I love them!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm lovin' these! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Give Thanks pillow!
ReplyDeleteThose pillows are great. Do the ones stuffed with grocery sacks crinkle when you use them? Or do they not get used like that? I can just see me trying to curl up with one and crackle..crackle..crinkle..
ReplyDeleteNow that is just tooooooo cute and clever. I love them. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteway to upcycle those plastic bags - way better than them ending up in a landfill :D
ReplyDeletelove those pillows, never worked with burlap before but it sounds messy LOL :D
i now follow you :D
Super cute pillows and great shopping bag tip!
ReplyDeleteI love your pillows!!! And using the plastic shopping bags is ingenious!!! But does it make a crinkling sound when you lay against the pillow? But then maybe you don't want to lay against the burlap because it's scratchy. I still haven't gotten on the burlap bandwagon. But only because I'm too lazy. Plus the scratchy part. But I love how everyone's projects look.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I used newspapers to stuff the bottom of a faux flower/leaf arrangement, so plastic bags is not too far off for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI featured your wonderful give thanks pillow on my blog today! I will definitely be making one of these! Thanks for the inspiration. Pop over to my blog and pick up a button and brag that I featured you! You deserve it!!!
ReplyDeleteCute pillows! Your confession that some are stuffed with plastic bags made me laugh! I love it. What a great way to get rid of all of those bags sitting in my kitchen drawer!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!

I used grocery sacks to stuff my sweater pumpkins and they worked great too!! Great way to use up all those things that seem to multiply when you close the door on them!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the pillows they are so sweet and I love the stencil on them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillows! I love the 'be merry' and no I can't guess which one has the grocery bags. LOL

They are cute. I didn't know burlap came in any other color but tan! (DUH! so not crafty!) Did you see on the blog (I think "A Fanciful Twist"?) about fusing plastic bags & it making something like fabric? Way cool...
