i haven't been on twitter that long, {ok, so it's been like 2 months} and i'm realizing, i have no clue what the etiquette is.... or is there etiquette? i have no clue! and what does FF stand for? is it Friend Friday, Feature Friday, or Follow Friends? am i supposed to retweet if someone mentions me in a FF? i am so lost and clueless. i hope i haven't been rude to anyone!! i just have no idea what i'm doing. i'll admit, it took me awhile to figure out others could reply to my tweets, so i unknowingly ignored nice people for oh, over a month. oops. yeah, i'm cool like that.
so all you twitter gurus out there, clue me in on the official twitter etiquette so that i don't look like such a novice :o)
FF is follow Friday. People tweet about people they follow and enjoy and think other people should follow. I wouldn't retweet it, but I would respond and thank them for the FF mention.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you!! I know how to tweet, I know what the # and the RT and the @ are all for now, but I am sure some of that stuff eludes me. :s I'd willing to bet there's a "Twitter for Dummies" book out...maybe I ought to buy a copy. :s
ReplyDeleteYou aren't alone! We are learning more about twitter too and just trying to keep up! It is nice to know there are others like us out there :)
ReplyDeleteI am so clueless about Twitter. I can barely RT. I really need to get that Twittering for Dummies. It's confusing!

I'm with you on not understanding Twitter very well.
ReplyDeleteI really suck at twitter and not sure if I care to get better! Is that bad?
ReplyDeleteLOL. well one thing I "do" know is...you should totally follow me on twitter! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm following you for a little while now, and honestly, I'm not that well versed in it either. I can re-tweet and sent private messages and I think that's about it. I didn't see any messages to me until I had "ignored" them for a few months too! LOL
Have fun!

Yep. It stands for Follow Friday. I don't think it is considered "proper" to RT it, but a lot of people do. I'm not sure what I think about the whole thing so I usually just ignore it.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you! I'm new to twitter as well, and am not sure if what I'm posting is 'correct etiquette' either...we'll get it!
ReplyDeleteEek Twitter scares me. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm featuring a giveaway. I'd love it if you stopped by!
LOVE this post!! I'm such a Twitter newbie and I just act like I know what I'm doing when I totally don't! I'll just keep at it and hopefully I'll figure it out as I go.
ReplyDeletewell you're doing better than me...i don't even have a twitter yet!
ReplyDeleteI "tried" twitter...overwhelmed me too much! I will stick to blogs! I read once that blogs are like sitting down with someone in their living room for a cozy visit...that's what I like.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Here is a resource I used when I started.

I won't reiterate what everyone else said about RT and FF, but they are spot on. I was really into twitter for awhile, but found the time to grow my relationships was more than I was willing to spend and I wasn't really getting to know anyone. So now I am old school and reading blogs again. I still have moods of twitter swings, but they are fewer and farther between than in the beginning. Have fun, but don't get pulled into other people's drama. Speaking for myself, I have enough to go around, I don't need anyone else's!
