a flower for my hair AND my wrist AND a TUTORIAL!

i love something pretty for my hair. and i am definitely a pony tail girl. {it's a mommie's best friend, right?} and i've been seeing a few dressed up hair elastics and thought i'd make my own using a necklace pendant that a friend gave me for my b-day.
so pretty huh. but it has double purpose....
now if you're like me, if i wear my hair down, i usually put a hair elastic around my wrist *just in case*. {tell me i'm not the only one} so the best part about this pretty little elastic is, it totally doubles as a cute bracelet!

ta-da! super stylin and so much better than just a plain elastic. so when your hair is down and you want to bring an elastic just in case you want to pull it up, you'll have a pretty bracelet to wear in the meantime :)
like i said, it's really simple. but i'm going to share the how-to just for fun :)

Pendant Hair Elastic and Bracelet TUTORIAL
all you need is: pendant, elastic, sand paper, hot glue, felt, scissors.
this is my pendant.
i broke off the loop with my fingers. it was really easy. then i sanded the edge to smooth it.
next hot glue the elastic to the center of the flower. i tested the hot glue to make sure it would create a good hold with my pendant. my pendant is somewhat porous and so it took well to the hot glue. but you may want to check your pendant to see if hot glue will work or not. if it doesn't, try super glue or gorilla glue.
then glue a strip of felt over the elastic where you attached it to the pendant, securing in place.
too easy, huh?

  1. I nearly always have a ponytail holder around my wrist...that is, unless it's around my hair :)

  4. I am a pony tail mom too and think it is a great idea to dress up a plain elastic (I've been doing it to my daughters barettes so why not my hair pretties!?!).
Yes, I also put it on my wrist when my hair is down - you are not alone!

  5. I do the hair tie on my wrist as well! This is SO clever! Unfortunately, I just went short, but once it grows back, this will definitely be on the to-make list. And some to think of it, this is a GREAT gift idea! I can think of lots of fun things to go with it. Thanks for sharing your creativity!

  9. Working on growing my hair out because I miss my pony tail! I use to carry around an extra hair tie on my wrist. I even used it when I was nursing to remember which side I was suppose to start on next!

  12. What a great idea. I just picked up a similar flower pendant at Michaels and was debating what to do w/ it ( it was on sale so of course I had to buy it) and now I know! I also just added you to my blog list and became a follower.
