this is what davis and i are giving to friends, neighbors, and co-workers {davis's} this year. i opted for an easy "gift in a jar" Christmas gift this year. it's Hot Cinnamon Milk mix which tastes like Eggnog, but without the eggs!! one taste and you'll be hooked!
i got this recipe from my good friend Amanda who just started a blog, Spatula's and Spoons. you really should check out her blog. she cooks the most gourmet meals! she's so talented! {i'm trying to learn a thing or two about cooking from her!}
Hot Cinnamon Milk mix (to fill a quart jar)
2 cups powdered milk
1 cup powdered French Vanilla creamer
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 Tablespoon cinnamon
Simply mix together and fill your jar! To enjoy this yummy treat, mix 1/3 cup with hot water. OR for a creamier version, mix 1/3 cup mix with 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup milk. YUM!

ReplyDeleteI love the idea and I adore anything cinnamon flavoured. One question though... what is french vanilla creamer? Is it french, or is the vanilla french? In holland my brother serves coffee with a powdered milk instead of fresh. Is it like that?

Recipe sounds yummy - but I have a question about the amount of cinnamon. Isn't 1/2 tablespoon the same as 1 1/2 teaspoons, so both recipes have the same amount? Just want to verify before I try it!

I can't wait to try it! But 1/2 tablespoons does equal 1 1/2 teaspoons. Which recipe is correct?
ReplyDeleteChristy is completely right. I wasn't thinking! 1/2 Tablespoon is equal to 1.5 Teaspoons. The recipe for the Pint Jar amount should be 3/4 teaspoon. {which I have now fixed) Thanks for bringing that to my attention ladies!!

ReplyDeleteok so I tried the cinnamon milk and, well, not to my liking. BUT... at the same time I bought the vanilla creamer, they had Coffemate Peppermint Mocha creamer, and THAT is the ticket for me. I just used that instead of vanilla and omitted the cinnamon. MMMMMmmmm good! I will be making this for all my friends. Thanks.

I tried this at my mom's house over the holidays, and it was so yummy. It's a little sweeter than I like, but I can easily cut the sugar a bit. My sister-in-law mixed it in her coffee--yum!

ReplyDeleteI just made some of this, and I have to say: Oh. My. GOD. It's heavenly! When I was little, my mom used to mix milk, sugar, and cinnamon into steamed rice. We called it rice cereal. This reminds me of that!
