ok, this project rocks my socks off. no lie. i'm totally in LOVE with my new Christmas tree skirt!! hello beautifulness. it turned out 20 times more awesome than i imagined in my head. {and that doesn't always happen....} this is all thanks to Laurie, an avid Craftaholics Anonymous reader, who gave me the brialliant idea to make something using a painter's drop cloth. i fell in love with the idea, but didn't have the right project for a drop cloth.....until last Sunday. we were putting up our Christmas tree {yeah, we were a bit slow dusting off the tree this year} and a light bulb clicked in my head....and i knew exactly what i would make using a drop cloth.... a Christmas tree skirt!
and it couldn't be just a regular ol' skirt, it had to have ruffles. it had to. it's totally shabby chic and earthy....and ridiculously gorgeous.
but the absolute best part is, it is really, really easy to make. and yup, you guessed it, i will be writing a tutorial for this lovely tree skirt :) {you know i luv ya right?} i will try and get it written asap with christmas just around the corner, but i can't promise anything with a 2 month old and a just turned 2 years old around :o)
happy {holiday} crafting!
PS only 17 days left till Christmas! yikes.
now that is nice!!
ReplyDeleteLinda that is sooooo nice, it's different to other skirts I've seen. I love the way you made the ruffle. A tutorial would be great but don't worry yourself, you sound like you have your hands full right now.xx
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have been wanting to attempt a tree skirt for a few years, but I never seem to find the time! I would love to know how you made those great ruffles:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a very pretty tree skirt! I like the ruffle detail. Would not have known it was a drop cloth at first glance, either.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for the tutorial! I'm having such an issue finding a tree skirt to fit my live tree....this is perfect!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour right, it did turn out lovely - just perfect for down to earth and gorgeous at the same time.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I know I rarely comment, although I think EVERYTHING you make is completely adorable!! But this one has me DYING to figure out how to use my stupid sewing machine and learn how to sew!!!! (Yes I have a machine but can't sew. Jason bought me one for Christmas last year so I could learn. It's been gathering dust ever since...) I HAVE to have one of these under my tree right this minute! My goal this weekend is to figure out my machine in time for your tutorial!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThx because I need to make one and keep putting it off until I find the one I want to make. Yeah!!!! The poor tree looks awful with just a sheet under it
ReplyDeleteZowie Wowie!!! SO cute! think of the the additional ways you could embellish it.....Eeeek!!!
ReplyDeleteI HEART the ruffles!
This is sooo cute! I can't wait to see the tutorial! I totally underestand trying to get things done with little ones around though. I've got an 8 month old and a 22 month old....and a husband in the Navy who's gone A LOT!!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to make a new tree skirt for our tree this week. Looks like I am going to wait until your tutorial comes out because this is fantastic. Can't wait.
