Emily is here to show us how to make one of her Straightener Cozies. This is a great gift idea!!
Hi! My name is Emily and you can find me over at Licking Lollipops! I am so thankful that Linda invited me to post. I enjoy visiting other blogs and checking out all their awesome projects. I am a graduate student, part time bank teller, aspiring wife and craftier. And I love doing all of it, ok sometimes, the graduate student gets old. You can learn more about me and see my project over at my home. Now on to the project!
I travel a lot. Being a student still and having family so far away, it seems that I am always going somewhere. And I love my straightener, but I always need it right before I need to pack it. So my solution: make a cozy for it so it won't burn anything! All you need is a Pot Holder and a Sewing Machine. You could sew it by hand but it would be a challenge.
I got my pot holder from Big Lots. It was $5 but, it came with a really big oven mitt. It is also neoprene on the inside, so I know it won't melt, but any pot holder will do. You could even get one from the dollar store for cheap. Or you could get one the day after Christmas that had a nice plain pattern or color on one side and put the Christmas part on the inside. Or you could even make your own.
First, take your pot holder and measure which way is best for your iron.
After deciding that, simply sew around the edge of the bias tape on the side and the closed end.
I went around my edges twice just for extra strength. And then you are done. Super easy huh?
Slip your iron in and you can travel anywhere you want, even if your iron is hot. And if you find a potholder that has a pocket on it like mine, you can slip your cord in there and keep it contained.
And tada! Your ready to go. Happy Holiday traveling. It would also be really good for the teen in your life or better yet a college student!
Or me! I'm always trying to pack my straightener when it's still hot. I need one of these! Thanks Emily!

Great idea! I use my straightener before going out every day, and I always worry about leaving it sitting around when it is still hot. This is a great, easy idea. I'm going to make one for my sister for Christmas too! Thanks for the great idea and instructions!
ReplyDeleteThis is the neatest idea! I should make one for my daughter who definitely could use a cozy (or two!) for her curling iron, straightener, etc. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo cool and simple! Thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteok that is a fantastic idea! My husband is always getting after me to put my iron away but I have to let it cool first!!! Men just don't understand these things! Anyway now I can put it away quickly!! Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteLove this! It's so true to I always end up grabbing a towel from the bathroom or wrap it in a old shirt.
