Anyone else out there suffering from cracked, flaky, dry skin with all this cold, dry weather? Need a good exfoliator..... and on the cheap? I know I sure do! This is my fav trick this time of year and I do it all the time. It's probably the oldest {and cheapest}beauty trick in the book. And the best part is, it is basically free..... just add a pinch of granulated sugar to your facial soap and wash your face as you normally do. The ridges of the sugar crystals take off that layer of dead skin and leave your face feeling soft and smooth.
And don't forget to moisturize immediately after washing to trap in the moisture from the water! Works like a charm!
What a GREAT idea! Just made some olive oil & sugar scrub and now I'm going to try this handy little tip! Dry skin...be gone!
ReplyDeleteLovin' the blog. Went to the fabric store yesterday to get burlap to make a spin-off of the zipper bracelet. I hope it turns out!
Happy crafting!

Ok so I literally woke up this morning thinking I need to exfoliate...I wonder if you can actually use sugar. Thanks for the tip! I'm definitely going to be trying this one out today!
ReplyDeleteHA! As I type my mom and I are talking about how dry my skin is!!
ReplyDeleteI am SO trying this right now!
Thank you so much!!
I've never used sugar, although, I have heard of it. I do use granulated honey - plus the honey itself is a humectant.
ReplyDeleteI need to remember to do this...all over my body!
ReplyDeleteHmmm - so is it bad if you lick your fingers when you are done?!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good reminder...I think it is also good for your skin to add it to an olive oil & use it as a moisturizing exfoliator for your body in the shower!
ReplyDeleteHaving suffered from bad frostbite years ago to my face, EVERY winter my lips and chin and nose will peel because of the damage done, so I'm definately going to try this! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI use baking soda as an exfoliant. It's awesome. I like it b/c it doesn't disolve the same way/as quickly as sugar. Plus it's finer. It's also a good skin conditioner. I used to have major acne problems, now, my skin is blemish free! :)
ReplyDeleteNice idea, thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was also good to read the others suggestions, from your readers. Love your blog.
