i'm going to introduce you to my new best friend, TOTT....as in Tricks Of The Trade Hair Bow Maker and Instructions from The Ribbon Retreat. let me tell ya, i'm in love. TOTT helped me, the mother of a little boy, create GIRLIE bows!! prior to meeting the TOTT bow maker, i had never even imagined i could make bows. ever. i just assumed bow making came magically to those who had little girls. not us with boys.
TOTT Hair Bow Instructions is a complete package of everything you need to know about creating bows. TOTT comes with hands on videos and a 200+ page manual with color photos that shows you everything you would ever need to know about bow making..... and then some. Lanae, the bow guru behind TOTT, has been making bows for over 6 years and she is incredibly talented....Lanae could make bows in her sleep. trust me, she's that good!!
here are a couple bows i made using my TOTT bow maker and ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat. they are far from perfect, but by golly, i'm SO PROUD OF THEM!! :o)
this one is my favorite. so cute!!
The Ribbon Retreat has VERY reasonable prices on ribbon, fabric, and bow making supplies. one fun thing they do is every Wednesday, The Ribbon Retreat has a "Sweet Deal" where they significantly mark down select product(s). supplies can be limited, but you can totally get killer deals!
{i scored big yesterday on some headbands. yay!}
LOVE this ribbon! the crocheted edging is so pretty.
this bow is a little lopsided, but.... i still can't believe i made that!!
this was my very first bow. simple, uneven, but the pretty ribbon makes up for that, right?
READER ONLY DISCOUNT ALERT: The Ribbon Retreat is offering Craftaholics Anonymous readers 10% off your order. Just enter in code CRAFTAHOLIC10
i really loved that the TOTT Bow Making Instructions showed me every little detail about making bows. down to covering your alligator pins different ways and attaching a knotted center. i highly recommend TOTT for beginners as well as advanced bow makers. Lanae created TOTT Hair Bow Instructions 5 years ago and has been selling them every since. {can you say tried and true!}
*warning to all my friends having baby girls: you have not seen the last of my bow making skills :)*

Oh I LOVE The Ribbon Retreat. I've been on their email list for about 3-4 years now, maybe more. Their prices really are great although I haven't purchased from them yet. YET! I drool over the awesome new ribbons they get each time and right now they have a super cute new one called ADORNit Busy Bee that's just adorable.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win I would buy 2 packs of snap clips, 3 platic headbands, the Braided headband instruction book, and then from the Ribbon Mixes since those are such a great deal, I would choose the Go Green, Bombshell Blues, Buzzin Around, and Secret Garden. I think I might have to add some of my own money to that list but it would be SO worth it. They really do have some of the best prices and ribbons on their site.
