my Silhouette machine and i are connected at the hip. seriously. davis gave it to me a little over a year ago for our 5th anniversary and it has definitely been well loved!! {it's sitting next to me right now.}so when Silhouette approached me to do a review for some of their new products and to host a giveaway, it was a no brainer. of course i said YES at the top of my lungs!
that pillow is my newest pride and joy. and no, i did not have to create a stencil using freezer paper like i usually do. i used White Heat Transfer Material with a smooth finish from Silhouette.
my silhouette cut out the design perfectly. and then i ironed the decal directly onto the front of the pillow before i stuffed it.
first thing i loved about this material: the stencil came out perfect with no "fuzzy" lines like i get with freezer paper. second: the final product looks very professional. third: it was super easy!
my only complaints were that i had to iron it longer than the package said and thin lines were a bit tricky.
*one thing i would recommend is after you iron the Transfer Material to your fabric, let it cool. it can be very hot and if it didn't adhere completely, you can distort your image. and burn a finger or two. like me.*
i was considering buying a screen printing machine, but after using Silhouette's Heat Transfer Material, i don't think i will. this was easy to use and a ton cheaper! so i'm thinking i'm going to use this pillow as inspiration to redo my master bedroom or else my front room.... just which one deserves this fab pillow?!

ReplyDeleteThe heat transfer prodects are great! I would love some more...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to share a tip with you because it still looks like your heat isn't all the way set in. It shouldn't look like it's sitting on the fabric, it should actually melt in to it. If you are using a heat press the time and the temperature is fine, but when I use my iron instead it takes forever and I turn the heat up as well...
I love your pillow though...loks fab!
