April's Craftaholic of the Month is Allison from House of Hepworths. {yes i know, i'm waaay late on posting this!} Allison is a hoot! i thoroughly enjoyed our "therapy session" and i'm sure you will too!
1. How long have you suffered from Craftaholicism? and how does it affect those around you?
Hi, my name is Allison Hepworth and I'm a Craftaholic. I've been a craftaholic my entire life. It's going to take way more than 12 steps to get me sober. Lately I've been contacting old friends to apologize for my behavior while I was under the influence of crafts. It's been a very long and humbling process to apologize to every person I've ever offended from my constant and unyielding crafting. I'm still holding out hope that I can learn how to balance my crafting so that it doesn't turn into full-fledged Craftaholicism again. Some say it can't be done. That I need to go cold-turkey and avoid crafting for the rest of my life. But I'm here to prove otherwise.
2. I noticed that you cook. Do you ever combine your love of crafting with your love of food? if so, how did that go?
Yes, I cook, but only out of necessity. I really dislike cooking. It is a chore that I do so that my family doesn't starve - or depending on how you look at it, get too fat from eating too many Big Macs instead of a home cooked meal. As far as crafting with food? I have been known on occasion to make a snowman from my mashed potatoes... oh wait, you mean like decorating cakes? Ya, I'm way not patient enough for that. Why spend hours decorating something that's going to get eaten by a bunch of 7 year olds in 30 seconds flat?
3. How would your hubby rate the severity of your Craftaholicism on a scale of 1 to 10? {1 being Allison crafts? and 10 being Allison should be admited to the Craft Rehab yesterday}
I think until I started a blog he'd say 10 - I most definitely need to go to rehab for it. But now that I blog about my craftaholicism he's okay with me being a 10. He's hoping my blog will support him one day so he can watch TV and eat ice cream all day. Ha! Fat chance, buddy! In all honesty, he's super supportive of my obsession. He especially likes that I'm obsessed with cheap, free, and thrifty crafting as opposed to buying home decor from the expensive stores.
4. If you were one of your crafts, which one would you be?
Hmmm... This is a tough one. Which do I use the most, or which would I prefer to actually be? If we are basing this off which I use the most, I'd have to say vinyl. I'm kind of obsessed with it, especially monograms. But if we are basing this off which I'd most enjoy being? I'd choose my wheat grass tins or the adorable Capri-Sun purses that are always a huge hit at all the birthday parties. Wheatgrass and Caprisun purses are both equally ca-ute!
5. If you go for long periods of time without crafting, what happens to your mental well being?
You don't want to know. It's not pretty. Crafting is how I channel all my creative energy, and when that gets bottled up for too long I get severe core damage and then have a total meltdown. I'm pretty radioactive and you will want to stay a good 20 miles or more away from me until I chill out. Just call me Chernobyl. Or Cher for short. So if I were you, keep me cooled off at all times with a Diet Dr Pepper and a hot glue gun. As long as I've got those two things, I'm good.
as a follow up to our session, i snooped around Allison's blog to find Craftaholicism evidence. here's what i found.....
Capri Sun Bags {i need one for this summer!}
